New Additions
Pictured below is another satisfied Clipper owner. Gary, took possession of his 34’ in recent weeks. He and his partner Barb will enjoy the comfort of their new Europa 34’ whilst cruising back to Townsville. We hope they enjoy many hours of happy boating.
Mini Challenge
Darren Berry, managing director of Clipper Motoryachts has taken on motor racing in the new Mini Challenge series.
"I think it is a great series to be involved with, and there is a definite crossover of interest with boat owners and car enthusiasts."
Darren Berry's aim is to have the car sponsored by suppliers and companies involved in the marine industry, "Most cars that you see racing, in different categories, are sponsored by companies involved with the auto industry and other large organisations, I have never seen a race car that is sponsored and fully supports the marine industry". We have many of our suppliers that are interested in coming on board, and we are interested in talking to other sponsors how they can get involved.
MINI CHALLENGE has been successful in negotiating a television package on the Seven Network being part of the station’s V8 Supercar series.
Clipper and Noakes Forge Tradition
Both Clipper Motor Yachts Australia and Noakes Boat and Shipyards, two internationally recognised leaders in the marine industry, have just signed off on a joint venture service provider agreement. The agreement has been put in place for Clipper Motor Yachts Owners peace of mind.
The agreement is structured to allow Clipper clients a reputable repairer to work on there pride and joys. Darren Berry, Managing Director of Clipper Motor Yachts Australia made comment that this has been set up as a service to Clipper owners “It will provide our customers Australia wide coverage for maintenance and warranty repairs”. We have spent some time researching and finding just the right service provider. Noakes was the leader by a long margin with their procedures, quality control and over all excellent track record, we are assured the work will be done right the first time.
Noakes Boat and Shipyard have locations based up and down the east coast of Australia with affiliations with other yards to cover areas that may be regarded as out of the way or to far for clients to travel.
A complete list of Noakes Boat and Shipyards and there locations are available by contacting the Clipper Motor Yachts team on 07) 3890 5000 or email: .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or visit our website www.clippermotoryachts.com.au.
Places to Visit
Pittwater Bay
The beautiful Pittwater Bay is located 45mins drive north of Sydney, at the entrance to Broken Bay. Broken Bay has 36.8 nautical miles of protected sailing waters; this is not including the Hawkesbury or Brisbane Rivers. It is one of the easiest ports to enter or leave as there is no bar to cross or offshore reefs. There are mooring grounds all the way around Pittwater Bay, however there is a mooring charge applied by NSW Maritime & local councils. See the attached PDF for mooring areas, and charges.
On entry to Pittwater Bay, you will see the magnificent Lion Island. This feat of nature stands 93mts above sea level. There are so many attractions here, I would not have enough paper to list them all, but I will give you a taste of a few. You can climb to Barrenjoey Lighthouse or take a walk around Scotland Island. Maybe watch the filming of Home & Away at Palm Beach. Or discover the beautiful Ku-Ring-gai National Park, there are sheltered anchorages around the park and the walking trails lead right to them. Or just take a stroll on the Bicentennial Coastal Walkway, which stretches from Manly to Palm Beach.
Scotland Island
There are several rock pool areas at different beaches, and most of the 23 beach areas are patrolled. If swimming at the beach is not your style, cruise up the Hawkesbury River, stop by one of the waterfalls or fresh swimming areas. There is an adversity of wildlife to see both in the water and on land, with so many area’s to explore. Fishing is a must here, with Jewfish a yearly catch, as well as large Mulloway and Summer Bream.
Palm Beach
If excitement is what you are after, come to the area in November or May, as they host the Bridge to Bridge race. Which is a renown water ski and jet boat race competition.
There is plenty of shopping facilities in the townships that are easily accessible by public transport. You can even have your Sunday paper or fresh coffee delivered to your boat. Whilst relaxing on your Clipper, you must try some beautiful local seafood, and their famous Fresh Rock Oysters.
The weather is not to hot nor to cold. With a winter minimum of 10degrees and a summer maximum of 36 degrees. For more information on this matter refer to the Bureau of Meteorology website:- http://www.bom.gov.au. The diversity of the region is amazing, so close to the state capital, but yet so far in lifestyle. We highly recommend a cruise to the area. We know you will enjoy it.
To download the PDF for mooring areas click here. To download forms and fees for mooring, visit the NSW Maritime website at www.maritime.nsw.gov.au and follow the prompts.

Boating Safety
To all Clipper Owners just as a gentile reminder it is worth pulling your life jackets out and giving them a look over. As Murphy’s Law dictates when you need them most they will be inaccessible or damaged and of no use at all.
It is recommended that you remove all life jackets and do the following:
- Check for rips, tears or abnormalities.
- Check for mould
- Check that the correct amount of lifejackets are available for your particular vessel, required by law
- Check that all life jackets are stored in a convenient position, for quick retrieval in times of distress.
The most common of life jackets available on Clipper Motor Yachts are PFD type 1.
FD type 1‘s have sufficient flotation to support the body and head. The flotation collar keeps the head above water. For use in smooth, partially smooth and open waters. Suitable for offshore boating.
For further information you can visit www.msq.com.au. Or www.nswmaritime.com.au.
In recent times there have been some changes in law pertaining to the wearing of life jackets. It is compulsory to wear a life jacket:
- When crossing a coastal bar in an open boat that is less than 4.8 m in length.
- If you are under the age of 12 in an open boat that is less than 4.8 m in length, while it is under way.
Also be aware you have the correct size jacket’s for all persons on the boat. An adult jacket is not adequate for a young child.
Hopefully you will never need to use them, but it is better to be safe than sorry!
