60 Motoryacht
The 60 Motoryacht has been delivered to it's home in Norway and the owners are extremely happy with their new vessel. Clippers are very popular in Norway, with boating a favourite pastime. New Website
We have just launched our new website, please go on and have a look. We have updated pictures of the Cordova 52 and the 60 Motoryacht. We think you will find the format much easier to use. Feel free to drop us a line and tell us what you think. The site is still at www.clippermotoryachts.com.au/
Boat Tests
The Clipper Cordova 52 has received rave reviews. We have had two major boating magazines do boat tests recently, both coming back with glowing reviews. Ocean Magazine produced a five page layout, stating that "the craftsmanship is masterful, some of the best he has seen". With Go Boating magazine offering a seven page layout, adding "the 52 delivers a level of luxury appointments expected on much larger vessels". If you would like to read either of these reviews, they are currently on our new website, I think you will find them an interesting read. Click here to read the reviews www.clippermotoryachts.com.au/
Mini Challenge
Many of you may have seen the coverage of the Mini Challenge broadcast on Chanel 7 on weekends. The Clipper car has been fairing well with a good result in Sandown, where Jason Bargwana took the honours. The next meeting is at Phillip Island on September 12-14. Keep an eye out for the broadcast around then.
New Arrivals
Pictured are Lindsay & Leigh taking possession of their Europa 40. They are looking forward to cruising around the Whitsundays, where they reside for part of the year. We hope they enjoy plenty of pleasurable hours aboard their new Clipper.
The Clarence River and Yamba
The Clarence River is over 400km's from source to sea and is one of Australia's largest waterways. Over 100 islands lie upstream from the mouth, with the township of Yamba at it's opening it offers a variety of options for a boating holiday. You can moor at the marina at Yamba or in the surrounding waterways, with miles of area to safely anchor. You may just want to cruise down the river, there are loads of little towns along the foreshore for you to stop and have a break.
If you choose to stay at Yamba, there is some local attractions you must see, there's the Lighthouse, the Historical Society Museum or the saltwater rock pools. It is the place to go if you don't want hustle and bustle with only locally owned shops and services. It has a variety of restaurants and eateries ranging from fresh seafood to the local bowls club, where you can eat and have a flutter on the pokies.
In August and September you could sit on your Clipper and watch the humpback whales migrating south with their new calves. If you like to dive this is a place to visit with around 30 identified shipwrecks in the Clarence and adjacent coastline. It also has an abundance of marine life and coral, some even say it is the southern most tip of the Great Barrier Reef.
For the keen angler there is a hugh variety of fish species ranging from Whiting and Bream to Tailor and Trevally. As usual you should check if there are bag and size limits enforced. This part of the coastline is well known for it's prawns and oysters.
With a large area of national parks in the area this would be a great place to get back to nature and relax.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance on your Clipper is a must. Below are a few tips to keep your Clipper looking as new as the day you bought it.
- Always freshwater wash down your vessel. This is important as salt residue can cause corrosion.
- Always clean stainless steel frequently with soap and water. Any cleaner safe for glass is usually safe for stainless steel.
- Always remove any rust spots as soon as you see them, with a brass, silver or chrome cleaner.
- Use a good car wax or special stainless steel cleaner for added beauty and protection. You can get these from any good chandlery shops.
- Never use sandpaper or steel wool on your stainless , these may actually cause rusting.
- Never clean stainless steel with mineral acids or bleaches.
- Cleaning of your canopy is easy, simply brush of any dirt or grime, hose down with fresh water, then clean with a mild solution of nappy soaker and water. Then rinse with plenty of fresh water. Stretch open the canopy and let dry naturally
- To remove salt deposits and light stains on your external fibreglass, use a boat shampoo diluted in water. To remove stubborn stains, use an abrasive GRP cleaning compound and finish off with a coat of wax.
- Cleaning of non-slip surfaces is best done with a scrubber and either shampoo or an abrasive glassfibre cleaning compound.
These are just a few tips for keeping your Clipper looking brand new. Read your owners manual for more instructions.
Recipe
Instead of giving you just a recipe this edition I thought we would just give you some ideas for easy meals whilst cruising on your Clipper. Being colder at the moment I automatically thought of soup. The good thing with soup is you can pre-cook and freeze portions. This comes in handy while boating. I mean who wants to cook when you could be relaxing with a nice wine on the flybridge of your Clipper? If you pre-cook any of your favourite soups, separate into meal size containers and freeze, all you simply need to do is reheat in the microwave. You will have a healthy meal ready in minutes for those lazy nights on the water. The soups I recommend for this are Pumpkin, Potato & Leek and Beef & Vegetable. All of these reheat well, are full of flavour and are great winter warmers.
